Getting a Canadian visitor or tourist visa is ideal if you intend to come to Canada for short term visits.
Certain educational institutions also offer short term programs (6 months or less) so that you may study while visiting on a tourist visa.
There are two types of Visitor Visa in Canada,
- Single entry Visa: Allows you to enter Canada once, and stay up to 6 months. You can apply for an extension if necessary.
- Multiple entry Visa: Allows you to enter Canada multiple times for 6 months at a time. Multiple entry visa can be valid for up to 10 years or until your current passport expires, whichever is first.
The success of a visitor visa application depends on several factors, such as,
- Travel history
- Economic stability
- Invitation letter
- Proving you have significant reasons to return to your country
Visitor visas allow you to enter Canada primarily for travel as well as to visit friends and family.
Once your visitor visa has been approved and issued into your passport, you may enter Canada for up to 6 months at a time. However, some times officials at the Canadian border (airports, for example), may decide to restrict your duration of stay. This situation is completely circumstantial, and depends on the individual in question.
Having such limitation can be inconveniencing, especially if you have already made plans beyond the date of return that the border official has indicated in your passport.
Has your duration of visit been restricted by Canada immigration? Are you about to reach the six months mark? Are you in love with Canada and want to stay a little longer?
We are happy to help you apply for an extension of your visitor status. Once we submit your application for an extension, you will have ‘implied status’ and can remain in Canada as a visitor for the time being. The current online-application processing time is approximately 50 days, during which you can remain in Canada under the same conditions.
